Location of Assignment: Primarily Shop yard and North Luckiamute Trail System, Monday-Tuesday-Luckiamute State Natural Area (LSNA) South Day Use Parking lot and Trail Head, Paddlers Access Parking, North Luckiamute Parking and Trail Head

Time Commitment/Schedule:  Monday-Tuesday hosts days off coverage 630am-11am and 1 hour during posted closed time, from noon until closing you are not on duty.  Wednesday-Friday 8am-Noon Volunteers should work on average 4 hours a day. Could vary depending on tasks.

Purpose of Volunteer Role:  To help us maintain our equipment and landscaping needs and to assist us with various maintenance projects.  Other roles are covering Sarah Helmick Day Use and Luckiamute Day Use host position’s days off (Monday-Tuesday).

General Responsibilities:

·       Repair or perform preventative maintenance task to equipment such as mowers, 2 stroke equipment, tractors, and other gas powered equipment

·       Assist in seasonal mowing of fields with a tractor

·       Assist in maintaining 3 miles of trails and checking on a boat-in campground (use of Polaris side by side)

·       Open/close gates per posted hours at Luckiamute South Day Use, Paddlers Access, North Trail head and park office gates, check restrooms Monday-Tuesday

 

·       Check South Luckiamute Trail weekly for litter, trim back any branches, keep grass mowed that defines trail bed, inform staff of any down trees

·       Meet and greet visitors

·       May be assigned additional projects if needed by park staff

Daily Equipment Used:

·       Share Park Vehicle-Chevy Colorado

·       Polaris Side by side for trails

·       John Deer 1435 72” front deck mower, shared among staff, may have schedule for use in busy season

·       Backpack or electric blower, weed eater

·       Litter stick, broom, bucket

·       Issued equipment: 1 set of keys, I-phone/charger, Notebook

Restricted Task:

·       Chainsaw operation, includes the use of powered pole saws

·       Being impolite or unprofessional with other park staff, volunteers, or visitors

·       Operation of quads, tractors, skid steers, excavators

·       Certain vehicles that are assigned to staff outside our unit but are stored at the park

·       Park Rule enforcement:  Volunteers can advise rules but cannot enforce, if a visitor disregards your advisory contact, you must tap out and call a ranger.

Minimum Qualifications:

·       Ability to lift 20 pounds

·       Be at least 18 years old

·       Have a self contained camping unit as a living space with amenities to maintain personal hygiene and cleanliness for interacting with guests, this park does not have shower facilities

·       Open, flexible, and friendly

·       Ability to operate a 1435 front deck mower or other type of large mower

·       Ability to operate a shared park truck, must have a valid drivers license or with a host team that has a driver with a valid drivers license

·       Work in a variety of environmental conditions

·       Operate various type of blowers and weed trimmers, electric of gas powered
