Accessible sites reservable online in 2025

Visitors can book accessible sites online starting Jan. 1, 2025.

Oregon State Parks is exploring ways to improve access to state parks, and one of the ways we are improving access is to ensure visitors can reserve accessible primitive, tent and RV sites 24/7 online starting Jan. 1, 2025.

Previously, visitors could only reserve accessible primitive, tent and RV sites by calling Reserve America or booking at the park. Requiring phone or in-person reservations for these sites meant that visitors could only access reservations from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, which limited visitors’ ability to reserve accessible sites.

Now all accessible campsite types, including yurts and cabins, are available online. Online reservations will be available starting 6 a.m. online six months in advance starting Jan. 1, 2025 (including same-day reservations).

Here are a few answers to commonly asked questions about the change:

Can you still reserve accessible primitive, tent and RV sites by phone?

Yes, you can call (800) 452-5687 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday to reserve accessible sites in addition to online reservations.

What makes a site accessible?

Each site will have some variation, but in general they meet ADA guidelines for accessibility. For example, most sites will have wheelchair accessible parking with compact surfacing around the picnic area and fire pit plus a wheelchair accessible ramp if it is a cabin or yurt. If you have any questions about a site’s accessibility features, please contact the Park Information Team at (800) 551-6949 or park.info@oprd.oregon.gov.

Who are these sites intended for?

The accessible sites are intended for visitors with a disability. We do not require proof of disability or a disability placard to use an accessible site. But we do ask that visitors book a different site within the state park inventory if no one in their party requires an accessible site.

What if someone without a disability reserves an accessible site?

Not all disabilities are visible, and it’s up to the individual to determine whether they need a particular site. We will ask visitors to attest to their need when making the reservation. They will acknowledge the following statement when making an online reservation for an accessible primitive, tent or RV site:

“This is an ACCESSIBLE SITE. A person who qualifies under the ADA may reserve accessible campsites, if you do not require such accommodations, please reserve another site.”

Many of our cabins and yurts also include accessibility features. We do not limit the use of those sites to persons with disabilities.

What if the new online reservations impact my ability to reserve accessible sites?

Please let us know if the new online reservations impact your ability to reserve accessible sites by calling our Park Information Team at (800) 551-6949 or emailing park.info@oprd.oregon.gov. We will work with visitors to help book a site.

What happens to accessible sites that are not reserved?

If you’re at a park and curious about any unreserved sites, please contact park staff to learn more.
