Depoe Bay Whale Watch Center

Beverly Beach State Park is recruiting hosts for positions at the Depoe Bay Whale Center. The Whale Center is a highly visited location with thousands of patrons each year. In a typical Autumn day, we can expect to have 400 to 700 visitors come through the doors. Hosts play a major role in interacting and delivering information to the public. Additionally, hosts help with the daily cleaning and upkeep of the building.
Duties of the Depoe Bay Whale Center position include:
· Talk with hundreds of visitors each day and answering questions about marine related topics
· Give interpretive talks with groups of visitors
· Help visitors spot whales
· Assist in daily cleaning in the building (ex: vacuuming, washing windows, sanitizing surfaces)
· Restock restroom as supplies are needed
· Assist in interpretive presentations
Additional duties for all hosts at Beverly Beach:
· Serve as a visible and professional representative of the park
· Answer questions and give information to the public
· Treat everyone with respect and courtesy
· Attend monthly host orientation and mid-month safety meeting
· Complete all safety modules, background check, and annual required paperwork
Physical Requirements of this position include:
· Safely preform assigned task within OPRD training expectations
· Personal transportation to and from the Whale Center
· Ability to ascend and descend stairs
· Ability to bend, lift, and carry 20 lbs.
