We studied the idea of a jet boat concession (read report, survey results, and most of the raw data) to pick up and drop off customers at the park, and shelved it in February 2023. Visitors will still see jet boats operating on the river (where jet boats are allowed). Businesses can’t conduct transactions in the park, but are allowed to use TouVelle under the rules that apply to other visitors. One business has a permit from Jackson County to use land under the Table Rock Rd bridge that passes through the park.
Ongoing concerns about changes in use of the river between the old Gold Ray Dam site and Lost Creek Dam involve way more than the state park, so we collaborated with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, Oregon State Marine Board, and the Oregon Department of State Lands to gather more information from the community. The agencies partnered with Oregon's Kitchen Table (OKT), a statewide community engagement service, so Jackson County residents and visitors could express their values, beliefs, and expectations of this area of the river. The results are now out.
This beautiful day-use park is located on the banks of the Rogue River and at the foot of geologically prominent Table Rock. You can picnic, fish, launch your boat, swim and hike on a 2-mile trail. Denman Wildlife Refuge, next to the park, teems with local and migratory birds. Salmon and steelhead pass through seasonally on treks to and from the ocean.
Plan your next group event in one of our six picnic areas. Area A has a large picnic shelter with four horse shoe pits. Area C has a smaller shelter. Areas D and E are open areas with electricity, water and plenty of picnic tables. Areas B and F are open areas without access to electricity. All sites can be reserved up to six months in advance online at oregonstateparks.reserveamerica.com. The park was obtained in two phases. In 1946, Frank L. Tou Velle gave the state of Oregon 35.29 acres for park purposes, and, in 1964, an additional acreage was purchased from the Tou Velle estate. The park is a relatively flat tract of land on both sides of the Rogue River at Bybee Bridge. It is partly tree-covered in oak and poplar and is developed for day use.
