OMSI, Rose City Astronomers, and Oregon Parks and Recreation invite you to our summer Star Parties held once a month in June, July, August, and September. The Star Parties provide a great opportunity to meet other people that share your interest in astronomy, and to view the planets, moon, stars, and other celestial sights through telescopes and binoculars of all sizes. From beginners to experts, all ages are invited. Includes a presentation by OMSI staff, and opportunities to look through telescopes provided by OMSI and RCA volunteers.
In addition, park staff will be leading night time hikes exploring the wild world of Stub Stewart State Park after dark!
Event takes place at the Hilltop Day-Use Area. If the parking lot fills up, overflow parking is available at Clayhill Day-Use Area.
We recommend visiting OMSI's website on the day of the party for possible weather-related cancellations. Warm clothing and a flashlight with red light are recommended. Personal telescopes and binoculars are welcome.
Pets are welcome to join but must be on a leash no longer than six feet. Children must be accompanied by a parent or gaurdian.
Oregon State Parks is committed to making our events accessible to everyone. If you require an accommodation or service to fully participate, please contact Park Ranger Jeremy Williams at (503) 528-4029 at least three days prior to the event.
