In association with International Dark Sky Week, April 15-22 and to celebrate Earth Day, Prineville Reservoir State Park is hosting a full day of Dark Night Sky information and activities for the entire family. Join us for this special day/night extravaganza of events!

Activities begin at 12 noon on Saturday, April 22 to learn about the importance of dark night skies to preserve Oregon’s night time magic!  Learn about the significance of light pollution and tips shared about how you can help to win back our darkest skies, leaving this incredible legacy to future generations.  The day ends with a special ticketed musical event under the stars.  See below for the different ways your family can experience the beauty and fun!

  • 12:00 noon – 1:00 pm – “Where’s the Water?” Program and Dark Sky Talk (Eagle’s Nest Amphitheater)
  • 2:00 – 4:00 pm – Solar Viewing up close and personal through a solar telescope (Day-use area)
  • 5:00 – 7:30 pm – Arts & Crafts activities for all ages – rock painting, rockets, etc (Discovery Center – above the campground)
  • 8:00 – 11:30 pm – Dark Sky Viewing through Telescopes – (Park Observatory in Day-use area)
  • 8:30 – 10:00 pm – In A Landscape classical piano concert (ticketed / SOLD OUT! event through our partners)
