Join Park Rangers and volunteers for a guided hike on the beautiful Banks-Vernonia State Trail! Starting at the Buxton Trailhead, the route will be an out and back journey heading south across the historic Buxton Trestle. There is slight elevation gain on the way back to the trailhead, and the trail is wide, paved, and wheelchair accessible. Waterproof hiking boots or shoes are advised, the weather may be wet or icy in January.
Oregon Equestrian Trails will be running a concurrent First Day Ride event which includes a potluck at 1pm. Anyone from the public is free to join the First Day Ride, but you must bring your own horse. Horse trailer parking is availble at the Buxton Trailhead.
Pets are welcome to join, but must be on a leash no more than 6 ft. long. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
The event is free, and no parking fee is required.
