q Greet visitors, help them become familiar with park setting, answer questions, receive comments, and distribute publications. Re-stock publications as needed, totes are stored in wood bins for easy access.
q Be a visible representative of Oregon Parks & Recreation Department, with knowledge of park rules and regulations. The park host is to inform visitors of rule violations, but is NOT to enforce rules.
q Be observant for activities within the park that require attention by staff or law enforcement and contact help when emergencies occur. Make entries into the Host Log of significant situations.
q Be informed about park layout, activities, and surrounding areas. Information will be provided in Host Notebook for Humbug Mountain State Park.
q Litter patrol & promote recycling program by letting campers know where recycling bins are located.
q Restrooms: Replenish supplies as needed, general cleaning so restrooms are presentable to public.
(On campground host days off)
q Firewood: Sell firewood, with emphasis from 6-8 PM Change fund will be issued; money from sales will be placed in a Firewood envelope and deposited into iron ranger / drop box nightly.
q Light maintenance activities such as raking, pruning with hand shears, and keeping fire pits clean, mow lawns, pull weeds, clean walks or trails. Assist staff with maintenance projects, as assigned.
q Assist park staff with JR Ranger program and activities if requested.
q Determine any additional duties and responsibilities through discussion with Park Ranger.
q Must be willing and able to work in all weather conditions
