Campground Host

Lake Owyhee State Park

Needed From October 1, 2024
Needed To October 31, 2024

Campground host position currently available for Sept 1, 2024 through October 31, 2024.

Looking for an exciting hosting experience in one of Oregon's most rugged state parks? Seeking a remote recreational retreat?

Lake Owyhee State Park is a desert oasis nestled in the valley that hosts the Lake Owyhee reservoir, located 2 miles past the Owyhee dam. Surrounding Lake Owyhee State Park are towering peaks and cliff faces, such sights continue on the water for over 50 miles of prime fishing and boating.

Lake Owyhee features two campsites, McCormack Campground and Indian Creek Campground, each having their own camp hosts. In total boasting 62 campsites (51 electric/water and 9 tent) in addition to 2 rustic cabins. The community of Owyhee is 25 miles to the north at the junction of highway 201 and Owyhee avenue. Nyssa, OR is 33 miles to the north also on highway 201. Both locations have fuel and groceries, while Nyssa has more shopping opportunities and a laundromat. If they lack what you need, Ontario, OR is only an additional 12 miles while Boise, ID is 49 miles.

Host sites vary, all have full hookups, but one lacks septic so plan accordingly. There are no laundry facilities at this time. There is no cellphone service at the park, but we do provide Wi-Fi to our hosts as an accommodation. There are two 911 Emergency phones in the park. Host work includes camp duties (campsite cleanup & prep, cabin cleanup & prep, firewood sales, customer service), landscaping (irrigating, mowing), and litter clean-up.

Host positions can be scheduled for 1, 2 or 3 months depending on park needs and scheduling. Typical schedule is 6 hours per day, 5 days per week with two days off. Please call or email if you are interested in hosting at Lake Owyhee State Park.
