Yurt/Cabin Host

Cottonwood Canyon State Park

Needed From July 1, 2025
Needed To July 31, 2025

Come join our team at a certified International Dark Sky Park!

Cottonwood Canyon State Park (CWC) is in need of a Host, or Host Team, for July 2025.

CWC has 4 cabins, 21 campsites, 14 walk-in sites, and a group camp. Use the following link to learn more about CWC: https://stateparks.oregon.gov/index.cfm?do=park.profile&parkId=195

Here are a few benefits of hosting CWC:

  • Your host site will have electric, water and sewer hookups.
  • Hosts have access to Wi-Fi calling and internet.
  • CWC is working towards international dark sky certification, therefore the night sky viewing is exceptional.
  • There are miles of hiking trails along the John Day River.
  • CWC is staffed with full-time and seasonal rangers.
  • Everyone helps clean cabins and campsites.

Cottonwood Canyon State Park is nestled in a deep canyon surrounded by towering cliffs, abundant wildlife, and fanstastic trails. Local wildlife includes Big Horn Sheep, Deer, Birds, Fish, etc. The hiking and biking trails are right next to the John Day River. Cottonwood Canyon is known for peaceful and gorgeous dark nights with little light pollution.

Campground and Cabin Hosts will be responsible for providing information, assisting park visitors, cleaning campsites, cleaning cabins, and other special projects.

All Hosts must pass Background and DVM Checks.

Please contact Ian Bechtel for more info.

Thank you!
