Location of Assignment: Umpqua Lighthouse State Park, Winchester Bay

Campsites: 

• Site 4, a 42' site with water, sewer & 30 amp electric service.  
• Site 14, a 35’ site with water, sewer, & 30 & 50 amp electric service and a parking space
• Shop Site, a 50’ site with water, sewer, & 50 amp electric service.

Time Commitment: 4 hours per day, 5 days per week (20 total hours per week)

Schedule: 10AM – 4PM.  Tuesdays and Wednesdays off. 

Purpose of Volunteer Role: The Yurt/Cabin Host supports park operations by cleaning and maintaining yurts, cabins, and campsites, performing general campground maintenance tasks, and by providing excellent customer service to park visitors.

General Responsibilities:

·         Perform general cleaning and servicing of cabins, rustic yurts, and deluxe yurts, including: emptying trash, sweeping, mopping, and wiping down mattresses and surfaces, cleaning showers, sinks, appliances and electric grills. Hosts may be assigned up to 3 deluxe yurts per day.

·         Alert staff to safety issues, facility issues, and major cleaning needs.

·         Provide general site maintenance, including cleaning out fire pits, light landscaping, and sweeping.

·         Operate utility vehicles (golf carts and gators).

·         General landscaping duties including: pruning, raking, weeding, mowing, and trimming.

·         Respond to visitor, staff, and volunteer requests in an attentive and respectful manner.

·         The host in the Laundry Room Site is responsible for doing park laundry one day per week.

·         Hosts may volunteer for additional tasks and projects not mentioned above.

Restricted Tasks:

·         Enforce park rules: Hosts may share information on park rules with visitors, but volunteers do not enforce rules or make initial contacts for rule infractions. This activity is only performed by paid park staff with enforcement training.

·         Operate heavy machinery—including tractors, riding mowers, chainsaws, etc.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

·         Be at least 18 years old.

·         Ability to lift up to 20 lbs.

·         Ability to travel on uneven terrain, as well as be stationary for long periods of time.

·         Ability to bend over to wipe down tables and mattresses, and to sweep, mop, and vacuum floors.

·         Ability to work in a variety of environmental conditions.

·         Valid driver’s license
